SCOTT–HASTPA Racing Team
Launched August 2024
Event Overview
THE NEXT GENERATION TAKES THE START LINE
Twenty years after HASTPA first began exploring the Himalayan cycling opportunity, its athlete-development model entered another generation.
In August 2024, the SCOTT-HASTPA Racing Team was launched with riders including Yugal Thakur, Rajbir Singh and Aayush Negi, creating another professionally supported pathway linking grassroots discovery, HASTPA competitions, national racing and international ambition.
The partnership provided professional-grade equipment and support, while HASTPA brought two decades of experience in rider identification, mentoring, race operations and competitive development.
THE CONTINUUM
The importance of this programme lies not simply in three riders.
It lies in the complete pathway now visible:
School Programme
Community Racing
MTB Shimla
MTB Himalaya
National Championships
Professional Racing Team
International Competition
That is how sporting cultures mature.
THE LEGACY
For years, young Indian mountain bikers looked overseas for examples of professional MTB teams.
- HASTPA's ambition has been to create that possibility here.
- So that a child watching a race in a Himalayan village does not merely ask, “Who is that rider?”
- Perhaps one day the question becomes:
“How do I become one?”
