Event Overview

BEFORE BUILDING CHAMPIONS, BUILD RIDERS

Perhaps HASTPA's most important races were sometimes the ones with no podium at all.

Beginning on a structured scale from around 2014, the Hero-HASTPA school programme took cycling directly into schools and communities through riding sessions, maintenance education, safety awareness and organised cycling activities.

By 2015, HASTPA had reached its 25th school programme.

During the 2016–17 period, a major race-linked outreach campaign reached approximately 5,000 students across 35 government schools and 22 villages.

Programmes such as Mission Smile and Pedal for Progress broadened the purpose further—connecting cycling with sanitation, clean surroundings, safety, confidence, health and environmental responsibility.

SPORTING IMPACT

Grassroots development widened the base of the MTB pyramid.

One of its most powerful proof points is the progression of Akshit Gaur, whose pathway from a HASTPA school programme ultimately included junior national success.

SOCIAL IMPACT

A bicycle teaches far more than pedalling.

THE LEGACY

A world-class sporting ecosystem cannot only produce champions at the top.

  • It must create thousands of beginnings at the bottom.
